aboutme : the 2004 update

Hello, is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home?... Does anyone read this still, or has my site been forgotten in the dark recesses of the internet? So, who am I? Well, that depends. It's a tough question, and I'm afraid I don't even know. Where shall we begin? I'm a person of the world, and the story of where I am from - those of you who've heard it will undoubtly know - is long and complicated. What's important i guess is that I'm Chinese by birth, Australian by nationality, British in spirit, and Hong Kong'ian by residence. Bit of a banana apparently (with a dash of whiskey).

How shall I describe myself? I'm like a ticking bomb, i'm like a soul trapped in a shell. I'm everybody, i'm nobody. I laugh a lot, cry sometimes. I always cross the t's and dot the i's. I like music, good food and wine. I like to wax lyrical and dream the impossible. I live too much in the future, learn too little of the past and sometimes completely ignore the present. I'm nice. I was born to fly, but have yet to touch the face of God...

I used to live in Hong Kong. I've had the best and worst times of my life there. Maybe I'll go back and live there one day - a big house somewhere on the mid levels... I like Hong Kong a lot, because i can feel lost in the crowd and be happily swept along. I like the way it's like two cities in one. I like the General Snooker club, and curries, and coke in glass bottles at midnight. I'd like to think that when I left, a part of me was left behind - for better or worse i dont know. I live in Adelaide now, almost finishing University and dreading it. I guess I just want to settle down somewhere, and not move around so much. I'll write about life in Adelaide in due time, but not now, i'm still digesting it, trying to figure everything out...

What else? Lets see what's changed since May 2001...

If I can choose to be elsewhere, I'd probably choose to live in a nice bungalow somewhere near a forest in south-western England. Either that, or in a nice bluestone villa somewhere in the Adelaide hills.
That's still true I guess. I'm thinking now i'd rather live in a more exciting place. Hong Kong is looking more and more attractive to me, yes, a small studio apartment in... say, causeway bay or North Point for me to do up nicely.

I'd like, more than anything in the world, to have a nice Amplifer with valves, a high quality CD player, a very good turntable, a pair of Nautilus speakers, and one of those $150,000 German subwoofers with a blue LED light. Oh yes, throw in a Sony widescreen TV and a nice DVD player. Then, stack up the movies and the '45s.
Well, how silly of me to be so materialistic... What i want more than anything in the world cannot be bought with money, that's all i'll say...

If perchance I'll leave this world tommorrow, and could do but one thing, I'd probably declare my undying devotion to a certain blue-eyed girl.
Nothing's changed there, but she has lovely brown eyes now... Oh yes, and i'd have a curry, and something to do with pool, i'd imagine.

If perchance I ruled the world, i'd probably be assasinated rather expeditiously.

It's amazing what can happen in 3 years. Who knows what may happen in the next 3?
